Moving along with the times #52- Things beginning with B

Here's my card for the Moving along with the Times #52 challenge, to include things that begin with B. So, I used blue and a bird. My background was done with the Oxide Ink smash technique. I also inked the inside of an embossing folder to add the printed circles up the left side. I paper pieced the little bird, and stamped the sentiment and then cut it out with a heart die.

Just Add ink 373 and Tic Tac Toe

This card I made for the challenge over at Just Add Ink 373 which was to add a stencil. The other challenge I used is TicTacToe  and here is the grid:

For the TicTacToe challenge I used the leaf, thank you, and yellow. The card was made with Distress Oxide Inks, then I stenciled leaves on it with the darker yellow. I stamped the dots on the card with an old SU itty bitty background stamp, and I inked the inside of an embossing folder, spritzed it with water and stamped the pattern on the left. I diecut my Thanks and added it to the card.

In the pink 124

I used this for the Free for All challenge on SCS which required a bow on the card. I also am using this card for the "in the Pink" challenge #124.  I used some of the next oxide inks by Tim Holtz for my background and I inked an embossing folder, spritzed it with water and stamped on the background with it randomly. The image and sentiment are from Unity Stamps, that I colored them with copic markers.

Little Red Wagon #407

This is for the Little Red Wagon challenge #407. I got this die cut set from a bargain rack and have not used it yet. So thought this challenge of "Bows and Arrows" seem to fit the die. I did a smash background of oxide inks (which I just love) and added the sentiment from Unity and then arranged the diecuts around it. I loved the earthy colors for this and the red for a pop color.

Freshly Made Sketch 301

Trying out the Freshly Made Sketch this week. I made an oxide inked background, used a background stamp from Stampin' up and added a sentiment.  Here is the sketch for the challenge

Anne is again our fabulous hostess, and as the summer draws to a close, she asks that we  make a card with a nautical theme.  This can include the beach if you so desire.

I used a nautical set I won from Flonz stamps. I embossed thewhite card base and diecut the blue anchor.

Check over at the CCEEstampers blog  at all the team's interpretations of this challenge and link over there if you want to play along. Keyword for SCS if you download over there is CCEE1733.

Make my Monday #52 Grey and pink

I did this for the Make my MOnday challenge #52 to use grey and pink. My grey is a silver metallic and it appears more blackish in the photo. I got out an old set I got from Paper Trey years ago. After stamping the flower and leaves, I painted them with Oxide inks. After it was dry, I fuzzy cut it out and then diecut the believe out of pink paper. The white panel is stenciled using hickory smoke distress ink.

Mod Squad - Wheels

When I went to check out the Mod Squad challenge this week and saw that it was wheels and that Kitchen Sink Stamps is their sponsor this week, I pulled out my KS classic truck. I used my distress oxide inks to stamp and sponge my card.

Try Stampin' On Tuesdays #335

Check out the challenge over at Try Stampin' on Tuesdays. This week's challenge is a sketch with a twist and the twist being embossing. I found this embossing folder on sale last week, so was anxious to try it out. I cut a strip of some of my experimetations with Distress Oxide inks for the strip portion of the sketch. The stamps I used were from Unity Stamps. I colored the image with copic markers.

Tuesday Throwdown #356

This is for the Tuesday Throwdown challenge. Just a little invite to get the girls together. A night for our mental health!!! I used an image from Unity Stamps and the sentiment if from Kitchen Sink stamps. I just used a direct from pad method to put on the color. An easy to make invitation for that special group of friends. Add a few sequins and we are ready to party!!

CCEE1732 Insects

Anne is our fabulous hostess this week and her challenge for us at CCEE Stampers was to use an insect. So it might be a bee, a dragonfly, or any insect you would like. She also suggested using a little stickles or sparkle to the wings if it is a winged insect. I went through my bug stamp collection
and found this  old favorite of mine from Stampin' Up. It was a from a free set that I got during their Sellabration event years ago. I love the artwork on it and so I wanted a softer look for my coloring and a simple background so I went for a one layered card.  I watercolored with oxide inks and embossed the edges.

SOS #315 Spice up your life

Searching for a challenge to do this morning as my daily therapy, I found this cool one over at where I am to be inspired by one of the spice girls. I love orange and "ginger" color,  so I picked "Ginger."  I used one of my favorite stamps from Unity Stamps that seem to go right along here with this whole "rocking" challenge.  I used the medallion background stamp from Stampin' Up  (an old favorite as well) and inked it with oxide inks in those orange and ginger tones. After stamping and coloring my image with copic markers, I popped her up in front of the stamped background. This great sentiment is included with this Unity set, and then I added some silver stars. Thanks ladies at Shopping our Stash, I had such fun with this challenge.

CCEE1731 Embossing

Anne Harmon is our hostess for the month of August.

For our first challenge,  she is asking us to use any technique that involves embossing - wet, dry, resist - whatever appeals to you.

I die cut my circle. and then did the dry embossing on the front.

I tried a new embossing ink on this by Ranger, and some old gold embossing powder. Apparently, embossing powder may lose its effectiveness because it did not turn out like I had hoped.

This diecut is from Stampin' Up.

Come join us this week by adding your card over on the CCEEstampers blog.
Please use the CCEE1731 as your keyword if you load onto Splitcoaststampers.

Rubbernecker challenge - make it old, respect the age

The current challenge over at Rubbernecker Stamp's Inspiration and Challenge Blog is to make it old, respect the age. I have this great Graphics 45 paper in my paper stash of old sports ads, and I have this "Vintage Golfer" from Stampabilities of an old golfer. Don't you just love a golfer in knickers?
I am not sure of who makes this sentiment. I forgot to label my storage box with that information.

Check out this challenge over at the Rubbernecker blog site HERE.

CCEE1730 - Walk on Stilts Day

Create a tall thin card with any theme to celebrate walk on stilts day.
Maryann Einam is our hostess this week.

My card was made with a Power Poppy digital. The wonderful thing about digital images are the ways they can be sized and placed on your card.  The peonies were colored with copic markers.

Hope you can play along with us this week. Just link your card over on the cceestampers blog site that can be found here.  Just use CCEE1730 as your keyword over on SCS.

CCEE1729 Space Exploration challenge

CCEE1729 - Moon and Space Exploration Day

Another day on the days of the year Calendar is Moon and Space Exploration day, use this theme to inspire your card. Thanks, Maryann for this fun challenge.  I did a little more experimenting with my Distress Oxide inks after Googling some space pictures and I thought I might get that effect from these inks if I did them on dark cardstock. Here is my attempt:

I was lucky enough to grow up in the 60's when space exploration and the race to the moon was the driving force between the US and Russia to see who would be first. We were a very proud nation when 48 years ago today this was the headline of the day:

Christmas in July cards

Today's colors on the Color Challenge at SCS are perfect for some other Christmas in July challenges I have wanted to do.  So I am entering this into the Dragon Journey's challenge this week as well.
This is my favorite technique for adding color to the background, and it gives me additional uses for my huge collection of embossing folders in my stamproom. I simply rubbed the Distress inks (mowed lawn and old barn) onto the inside of my embossing folder. Then I spritz it with water and close up my paper on the inside and press down. It's not always an exact look and I like leaving some spaces clear of ink. I added some diecut pine needles to it, and stamped the car (Unity stamps) on a different piece of paper.I colored it with my copic markers and added silver metallic ink to the hub caps and fender and chrome on the car.  I cut it out and popped it up over the pine needles. I added this sentiment from Sizzix in versafine black. Loved the vividness of the colors I acheived with the distress ink. They are now my "go to" ink pads. Happy Stampin' this week!!

Thanks, for Dragon Journey's for selecting this card as their winning princess card this week. I am very honored.

In the pink challenge 122

Here's another card made with my new Unity stamps from my grab bag I received from them. I just love this image. When I checked on the "in the pink" challenge this week, I found it to be one for specal ocassions. Well, every day is worthy of celebrating for some great thing that happened, so don't overlook the blessings tucked into each day. And I can think of no better way to celebrate an event but in pink sneakers. I used these perfectly wonderful scraps from my fabulous pink scrap bag, and added the gems just for the extra bling for celebration. The image is actually stamped onto a piece of design paper that I went back and colored the white parts with a white galaxy pen. I even colored over the leaves so that the green marker would not be a distorted colored because of the paper. Hope you find the special ocassion of this day for yourself!! Just being YOU is worth the celebration.

This is for the Color Throwdown Challenge #451. Fun colors for summer. Had fun using my new stamps I got in my Unity Grab bag this week.  The shoes are paper pieced, which I stamped on a pink piece of design paper. I made the background with Distress Oside inks.

Power Poppy's Power and Spark July challenge

The power and spark challenge for July is to copy a bloomie. I went to Cindy Lawrence's blog and found this gorgeous card to case:

and here's my card that I made from the inspiration of this pretty card:

I used a different digital image and sentiment. I added stars instead of twine, and added a little more color to the image.

Wednesday, July 12, 2017

According to the days of the year Calendar, today is international Rock Day - use the colors of stone ( greys, browns, black, white etc..) for your card.

I did some reverse embossing on this card, some sponging, and made use of diecuts. The scripture from Psalms refers to God as "the ROCK of my STRENGTH."

Join us in this week's challenge over at the CCEE blog and check out all the cards for the team while you are there.

Mod Squad Challenge

This card I made for the Mod Squad Challenge this week making the sentiment the focal point of the card. I love using up my scraps left over from previous projects and usually bag them according to color. The stamps are from Unity.e

Vintage or Newspaper Rubbernecker challenge #13

I love this vintage image that I bought at a scrapbooking convention here in Houston a few years ago.  I thought it perfect for this fun challenge. I also used oxide inks to sponge onto the edges, I stamped the image with versafine black. I had this great strip of Graphics 45 design paper to add to the mix.

Check out the challenge HERE.

TT351 and CC643

I try to make my Christmas cards all during the year because I don't like making the same cards and I can fit them into different challenges, which helps with motivation and ideas. This one I have done form the Color Challenge on Splitcoaststampers of olive, brown, and gold. I also used this for the Tuesday Throwdown challenge to make a one layer card. I am all about one layer cards when it comes to cards that will go in the mail. Since all of my Christmas cards go in the mail, this will fit perfectly into the stash I have going.

I used Sizzix diecut and then stenciled with the negative part of the die with the olive ink. Then I stamped the deer (Unity), added some gold stamped dots with gold metallic ink, and added the versafine black sentiment (not sure of source). I added gold sequins as my only embellishment.

Cards for the Unity challenge using flowers

These were my inspiration cards for the Unity challenge this week. The cake was a new stamp I received yesterday from my latest order fro Unity. I loved my grab bag I ordered too. I was so pleased that I did not have any duplicates of stamps I already had. And one of the stamps was a "Texas Forever " stamp. It is like they must have handpicked these just for me, a Texan girl. LOL

My love for Unity stamps continues to grow as does my collection of their stamps.

Check them out if you haven't already. HERE

CCEE1727 masks

Hi Everyone,
Welcome to another month of  challenges. It's Maryann as our hostess for the month.
Hope you have fun with the challenges.

Create a card using a mask, whether it is using a masking technique of a stamped image of a mask.

I could not find any stamp I had that had a mask on it. So, I did the reverse masking technique and masking technique on this. The sun is a reverse masking process, and then I masked the bird to sponge the sky. I used a Unity stamp for the bird, a Verve stamp for the quote from Ann Lamott, and distress inks and distress oxide inks.

Keep my sister, Lynn in your prayers this week. She had a serious fall this week and is recovering. That is why she is not participating in the challenge this week.  May God cover you, Lynn, with His grace and His mercies as you heal. Hope you are better soon.

Power Poppy's Hues to Use Challenge

This is for the new fun challenge over at Power Poppy's blog . Something about a red rose speaks All American to me. I made a stencil with the stars by punching out stars from a scrap of paper. Then I sponged  faded jeans Distress Oxide ink into the stars. I used my copics to color this wonderful digital from Power Poppy. I didn't seem to find any red, white, and blue ribbon in my stamproom, but I found this fabulous wide red and white stripe. It just seem to be the finishing touch.

SC652 and City Crafter Ch. 369

I did this card for the Sketch Challenge #652 on Splitcoaststampers, and I also did it for the
City Crafter Challenge #369 to use black and white. We are always in need of sympathy cards for our care team at the church, so I am trying to get some done to share with the others on the team.
I used an Inkadinkado stamp set for this one and the sentiment is from Stampin' Up. I embossed the larger white panel, and used black and white design paper for one of the long panels.

Two new challenges I am trying

I have a nice quiet day today, so I am using the day to make encouragement cards for my Care Team at church. How excited I was to find a couple of new challenges over on Paper Playful's sight to try as my motivation today. I first ran across the Calling all sistah's challenge 02 which is to make an encouragement card using the challenge colors. This challenge can be found here.

I also found the CAS watercolor challenge to use a butterfly. Here's the link:  CAS Watercolor challenge for July.

The stamps I used are from Unity Stamps, I used Distressed Oxide inks from Ranger for my inks and for watercoloring. I stamped the butterfly in versafine black.

I plan to give these to the ladies who serve on the care team with me, so they can send them out to those they call on to send encouraging words to those who are going through a tough time now.

Happy July to you all.

Look what this card acheived!! I am so honored!

Stripes and strips

When I saw that the challenge was stripes on the Through the Purple Haze Challenge today, I decided this card I had made for the Ways to Use challenge using a herringbone technique as my background for this card. I used Unity stamps and did a little paper piecing as well. You can find the Through the Purple Haze challenge here.

In the pink challenge-Special occasion

Actually, I used this card for two challenges today. One was for the Ways to use challenge on Splitcoaststampers, and the other was for the In The Pink Challenge to use pink on a celebration card. This is a birthday card, and balloons are always a sign of a celebration. Could be for anniversary as well. The stamps are from Unity stamps. I made the background out of all my pink scraps to make a herringbone pattern for the background.

CCEE Fairies

This week is Frances' last challenge for June, and with June 24th being Fairy Day, she asked us to use a fairy.  I used this stamp that has been in my collection for awhile and I have never used it. I colored it with copic markers, and used design papers for the background of the card.  So, find your favorite fairy stamp and join in the fun this week with CCEEStampers. Post your card over at CCEEStampers and if you post your card on SCS please use the keyword CCEE1726.

Check over at the CCEEStampers blog site to see all of the team's cute fairies they have shared.

Power Poppy's Power and Spark June challenge

Just doing one more card for the Power and Spark challenge this month on Power Poppy.'s blog. .
Working with digitals is so fun on the computer layering and overlapping this is so much easier than all the masking you have to do when stamping. I actually printed this twice, once on the kraft and once on the ivory. I cut the quote out from the ivory and placed it over where it was on the kraft. I used a white galaxy pen for the white and to lighten the flowers on the kraft paper before I colored it with my copic markers. I sponged the edges with walnut stain distress ink.

What a wonderful sketch this was on Splitcoaststampers challenge today. I am also doing this for this week's Shopping Our Stash challenge of Summer Fun. Loved this paper and pretty colors for summer, and who doesn't love those fun summer beverages with the added slices of fruit and the little umbrellas.
This cute stamp is from Unity Stamps. I have lots of friends with summer birthdays, so I made this card for my birthday stash. I made use of desgn paper scraps left on my paper cutting table, and even found that vellum in the mix. That paper punch reminds me of a fan to keep cool with over the hot summer too.

You can find the SOS challenge here  and the Sketch Challenge for SCS here.

So whatever your plans for the summer: stay cool, have fun, and be safe!!

CC EE1725

Hi everyone,

It's Frances here with our new  challenge for you all this week.

Yesterday was World Music Day; Music Day and Make Music Day .... so let's include something music related on our cards this week.

If you would like to play along, don't forget to come back here and post a link to your card on the Mr Linky over at the CCEEStampers blogsite that can be found here. Check out the team's cards while you are there.

For my card, I used a stamp from Layers of Color. I also used an embossing folder that I inked with amber fossil oxide distressed ink. The pretty design paper I found in my stash of hoarded paper. Loved the little gold spots on it. I added some punched butterflies with pearled bodies.

My three challenge card

I have been having such fun with my Oxide Distress inks. This time I used them on a piece of design paper that looked like ledger paper. I did some subtle stamping of a smaller image with butterflies from Unity with these same ODIs, then added the scripture (from Sweet and Sassy stamps) and the diecut butterfly and image from ODBD. I added the diecut leaves and punched flowers as my final embellishment. I went over the butterfly wings with a sparkle pen, although it doesn't show up so well in the photo. I am using this in the following challenges this week:
The Mustard Seed Faith challenge - to use birds, butterflies, or Natural scene
Simon Says challenge - to used patterned papers either printed or handstamped
Mod Squad Challenge - use many colors.

I created this background paper on a piece of design paper, and liked the way it turned out. After the stamping and colors were done, I glued it to a light blue card base.

Another MSC Make a Square

I just had to do another Power Poppy card for the Make a Square challenge over on Mod Squad this week. I love this digital of the dogwood and I am always in need of cards with this sentiment for my Care Team obigations at my church.  You can find the challenge here.

Make it Square

I used a Power Poppy digital image and digital sentiment for this square 5 and 1/2 square card for this card for the Mod Squad Make it a Square card challenge. I colored it with copic markers, sponged lipstick pink Oxide ink around the edges. I have been making my cards more mail friendly lately so this is a one layered card. Here is where you will find this challenge.

Wednesday, June 14, 2017

Hi everyone,

It's Frances as our hostess again with another fun challenge for you all.

According to the Days of the Year Web Site - Friday 16th is Flip-Flop Day. So for our card this week let's make flip flop cards! That can be the flip-flops that are shoes (thongs for us in Aussie) …. Or Flip Flop Cards or both …. Or you may have another flip flop idea whatever works for you :)

Want to play along? Don't forget to come back and add the link to your card using Mr Linky that you will find here on the cceestampers blog.

I tried to make a fancy fold card and making my own pattern. Kind of crude, but had fun experimenting. No stamps, just cut paper, and even did my own hand written message.

Paper Players challenge #348

Below is my card for this challenge. I used one of my newest purchases from Unity stamps to make this card. I stamped it with versafine black, and colored it with copic markers. These seemed like the perfect colors for this cute image. I came closest to these colors with what I had on hand. Hope it works. Here is the link to this challenge.

CCEE challenge

Hi everyone,

Frances is again our challenge hostess.

Today is World Ocean Day, so the challenge this week is to create a card that reminds you of something related to the ocean.

If you would like to play along, don't forget to come back and add your link to Mr Linky at the bottom of this post.

Now let's see what the Design Team has created for you this week ........
over on the blog site here

I have been having such fun with my new Distress Oxide inks and created this background behind my stamped image of the ship from Flonz. I colored my sails with a white galaxy pen and the wood with a brown copic marker.

Mod Squad challenge = Spark it up!

What a fun challenge for this week on Mod Squad this week! I love anything with a sparkle to it!!
I made use of 3 sparkly papers from my scrap pile for my background, and then I stamped these Unity images and cut with dies. I colored the image with my copic markers. I sponged the sentiment oval with purple distress ink.  I think this will be a perfect birthday card for any of my winedrinking friends.

This is for the color throwdown challenge 446. I am using Distress Oxide Inks, and some Unity stamps I just received recently. Just trying out new ideas.
