FTTC 222 - summertime

Summertime, and the living is easy. I spent most of my working life as a teacher, so summers were always a time to look forward to. That long needed time to just relax and refresh myself --that ME time I thought I had earned during the year--I awaited with anticipation. Now I just help out with my church's preschool two days a week, so I have a little more time for myself, but I do enjoy the beach and the fresh fruits and vegetables of summer. This little quote from a Ralph Waldo Emerson work just sums it up well.
Happy Summer and enjoy the full glory of every wonderful day of it.

Combining challenges

I don't do this very often, but here it is Wednesday and I am behind on many of the challenges I like to take part in. So, this is for the Make My Mondays Challenge making use of green and yellow. I also used flowers for today's CBC #170 challenge. And I used the sketch for today's Splitcoaststampers Sketch challenge. I also wanted to make use of this beautiful orchid stamp that I got last week and have not had the time to ink up until today. I have had one happy day of stamping. For me, that is one of those mental health days I do for myself and my sanity. KWIM?? The design papers I used are from Basic Grey.

ODBDSLC155

The theme for the ODBDSL challenge this week is Sky and water. This is a ODBD stamp set that I love of a coastal scene. The scriptures that go with this set are so perfect. I punched the soft suede border, and embossed the border of the sage card stock. The image was colored with copic markers. The bow is made from light gray seam binding.

My card and my sister, Lynn's card got selected as two of the winning challenge cards for the week over on the Our Daily Bread Design Shining Light Challenge . Lynn's is below. She used that new fishing boat from ODBD for hers.

Lynn and I live 90 miles away from each other but we share the love of stamping. It was so fun to share this honor with her as well.

FTTC221

I just love this new "Old Tea Rose:" set from Flourishes. Since it had a butterfly in the set, it made it perfect for this week's challenge. I was anxious to get some ink on it. I used copic markers to do the coloring.

ODBDSLC154

I created this for the Our Daily Bread Design Shining Light Challenge. This week's challenge was to us wood or stone. My card used this pretty wooden cross by ODBD and I embossed the card base with a woodgrain pattern. Today is Pentecost Sunday, so Happy Birthday, Church!

FTTC220 and WAW80

This is for this week's Wordart Wednesday challenge using their Isaiah scripture. and for the Flourishes Timeless Tuesday Challenge to use blue and green. The zinnias are from a Flourish stamp set. This scripture is a great reminder of where our strength comes from the Lord. Have a blessed Wednesday.

Three fabulous challenges

I don't usually roll one card into 3 challenges but today I did. This is for the CQC188 challenge of using sage, saffron, coral, blush, and white, the CBC #169 challenge to do a Mother's Day card, and the Word Art Wednesday scripture for today. For the Creative Bellie challenge I pulled out some little diamond shaped ruby colored gemstones (although they look black in this photo) to look like the rubies mentioned in the scripture. I used my nestabilitiies to cut the shapes, I sponged the white shape masking it with the diecutter. I inked the embossed blush background with so saffron ink.

FTTC 219 - Black Accents

The FTTC 219 challenge was to use black accents. I have a few Mother's day cards to create before Sunday, so I used this Flourish rose, a Flourish lace trim set, and a Flourish sentiment from a Mother's Day set to create this card. I used white paper and basic black for the matting that is punched with a Martha Stewart punch. I have some rhinestones that are silver with black stripes across them, and some black diamond shape stones to accent the lacy trim. The rose was colored with Copic markers.

I hope all the mothers of the world are blessed this weekend and remembered by those who cherish them.

FLLCMAY13

Loved the color palette for this challenge over on Flourishes. I pulled out one of my oldest Flourish sets, my much loved poppies. I also used the script backgound stamp from the tulips set. Looking forward to the new release that is about to happen over at Flourishes. I've grown to love floral stamps because of Flourishes. I'm not much of a gardener but my paper garden brings me much joy and hope it does to others when they get one of these stamped lovelies.

CFC100

CAS-ual Friday Challenge is celebrating their 100th challenge today. It was a tic-tac-toe challenge and I selected the black and white/punch/sentiment path. Congratulations of your 2nd year. I love taking part in your challenges whenever I get the chance. The punch is from Martha Stewart, and the sentiment is from Sweet and Sassy. I don't know the source of the vinyl stickers I used.
